Welcome
to the Global Museum Podcast Index
Here we list links to museum-related podcast subscriptions and feeds
as well as providing some core information on how to get started.
What
is Podcasting?
Wikipedia's
definition is as follows: " Podcasting is a term used to describe
a group of technologies for distributing audio or video programs over
the Internet using a publisher/subscriber model. It differs from earlier
online delivery because it automates the transfer of digital media
files to the user's computer for later use. Podcasting enables independent
producers to create self-published, syndicated "shows,"
and gives broadcast radio or television programs a new distribution
method. Subscribing to podcasts allows users to collect individual
programs from a variety of sources for listening or viewing at the
user's convenience" More
What
do you need to get started?
You need to download some open-source software known as a Podcast
Receiver.
We have trialled few and would recommend Juice (formerly
known as iPodder Lemon). It certainly isn't a 'lemon' so we can see
why they changed the name!. Go the the download page on Scourceforge
by clicking
here or on the banner above.
